I drug this van home from Cartersville, GA in November of 2022. It was listed on Facebook Marketplace as "not running." I was able to get it running in a couple of weeks and have been driving it every day since.
The man I bought this van from had replaced the ignition coil shortly after buying it at auction, but he wired it incorrectly and ultimately fried some other component in the ignition system. After I brought it home, I replaced every ignition component and it started right up.
The old window tint had started to bubble up and peel off in sections, so I scraped the rest of it off. Much better after cleaning all the windows off; that purple-colored tint was terrible!
I was able to order a trailer hitch from RockAuto that bolted right on with no modification!
My new specialty personalized license plate finally arrived in January 2023. Representing the 21st vehicle I have owned so far.
Tracy Slagle from Alternator & Starter Specialists rebuilt the starter and now it starts every time with no issue!
The power steering fluid started to leak really bad all at once and I ended up having to replace the main shaft seal on the power steering pump. This involved using a puller jig to get the pulley off of the pump so that I could replace the seal. The hardest part about that job was having to remove the pump from the engine.
I have already used it to pull home my 55 DeSoto from Kingston, TN, along with many other cars.
I bought a hitch-mounted bike rack to easily haul my bike
Had to replace the two idler arms for the steering. Both of them were extremely worn out, causing a lot of play in the steering and a clanking noise.
My friend and I pulled the transmission out and another friend of mine hauled it to his transmisson guy in Chattanooga to have it rebuilt. I hope to have it back soon and the van will be back in daily service.
